Spring represents new beginnings:  blossoming flowers, constant rain drizzles and refreshingly warm weather. Here are 7 of our favorite detox tips.


Make sleep a top priority

Although it seems repetitive, our bodies repair and reset themselves most quickly and effectively while sleeping. Each person requires a certain amount of sleep in order to wake up energized, refreshed and ready to take on the day. Good sleeping habits enable our bodies to absorb nutrients, reset our digestive system, restore focus and boost our overall mood.

Start your day with lemon water

Water itself is hydrating and restorative, as it flushes toxins out of the body and improves overall function. Adding lemon to warm water each morning not only kick starts your digestion, but also aids in the body’s natural detoxification process and adds a boost of vitamin c.

Go for brisk walks

Spend some time alone or with a friend. Wake up at sunrise or go for a stroll at sunset. Although this may seem silly and simple, the body was made to walk and live outdoors. Whether you’re walking on a sidewalk next to the Marina, exploring your surrounding neighborhoods or taking your pet with you along the seashore, moving your body outdoors not only increases your heart rate and mood, but also clears your mind of negative thoughts, stress and anxiety.


Drink Tea

Herbal teas set the scene for a good night’s rest. Further aiding the body in detoxification, the also help curb sugar cravings and ease the mind.

Write down your day’s thoughts or make a gratitude list before crawling into bed to clear and ease your mind. Along with maintaining healthy physical habits, don’t forget to detox the mind of any negative thoughts before falling asleep.


Snack on fresh fruit and veggies

Fresh blueberries are high in soluble fiber and make for a filling afternoon snack or a yummy added bonus to your morning oats. Incorporating more raw fruits and vegetables also eliminates the craving for refined sugar or processed foods.


Avoid alcohol

After a night filled with vibrantly-colored drinks and perfectly-curated cocktails, it’s difficult to avoid waking up feeling tired, lethargic and bloated. Avoiding high amounts of alcohol when trying to reset the body, helps with energy levels, regulating sugar intake and maintaining clarity and focus.
